Treva Dea is not short on beauty or talent. She is an accomplished painter, jewelry maker and a singer in a kick-ass rock-n-roll band. As If that wasn’t enough, this blonde bombshell is also a wife and mother to a family that exudes “cool” in everything they do.
At first glance Treva is a multi-talented woman who has the perfect life, so it might be surprising to learn, that she is also living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a debilitating autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system.
Treva was finally diagnosed in 2013 after years of mysterious symptoms that would come and go. As with so many autoimmune diseases, symptoms with MS can be moving targets, making diagnosis difficult for doctors as well as incredibly frustrating for patients suffering through them.
Treva’s drive and determination that have given her so much success in all areas of her life, are also evident in how she is taking on the challenge of adjusting to life with MS. She has no plans to let this disease prevent her from living the life she has created. From the beginning, she was willing to expand well beyond what traditional medicine had to offer and incorporate a variety of therapies that have proven to be effective. Her well-rounded approach includes acupuncture, pilates, and massage.
In addition to these therapies, Treva, a vegetarian from the age of 16, was already a step ahead of the game knowing that diet plays a huge roll in our health and ability to heal. With an already vast knowledge of proper nutrition, she also incorporated aspects of the Wahl Protocol and the Swank Diet to assist her body even further. One problem she faced was that these protocols encourage the consumption of animal-products. One thing Treva felt sure of, was her intuitive desire to stick to a primarily plant-based diet, she knew her body simply functioned better when not bogged down by hard-to-digest meats and heavy dairy. So, she had to tailor a diet that worked specifically for her desired lifestyle and her unique body.
One thing she knew, was the importance of protein in her diet to maintain healthy muscle mass, so she began looking into the best vegetarian protein sources and came across Hemp Hearts. She learned that they are considered a “perfect” protein, and best of all, they are 100% plant-based. In fact, Hemp Hearts contain all the essential fatty acids necessary for muscle and joint repair. They also contain ALL the essential amino acids, required by the body, in an easily digestible form. Two tablespoons (30 g) of hemp hearts contain a whopping seven grams of protein – equivalent to the same amount found in a large boiled egg.
Treva began to notice the results she was getting after incorporating Hemp Hearts into her diet, and wanted to be able to offer them to the rest of her community. She searched for the highest quality of Hemp Seeds possible, and is now able to offer 100% Organic Hemp Hearts to our little pueblo here in Sayulita, Mexico. Additionally, Treva is also using her vast talents in the kitchen to create snack treats for those who want their hemp hearts on the go. Treva was kind enough to share one of her best-selling recipes with you.
You can buy her 100% Organic Hemp Hearts at Orangy Smoothies and her yummy prepared treats are available around town at Yah-Yah’s and Orangy. Check them out, you won’t be disappointed.
